BANGKOK

A city of contrasts where ancient temples stand beneath towering skyscrapers, longtail boats navigate hidden canals, and street food aromas fill the air. Bangkok is chaotic, creative, and endlessly fascinating.

Destination

My first visit here was in 2011. Within minutes of landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport, I found myself on the back of a motorcycle taxi, luggage in hand, weaving through morning traffic. Cars, buses, tuk-tuks, and motorbikes moved in every direction, somehow avoiding each other by only a few centimeters. It was chaotic, exhilarating, and unlike anything I had experienced before.

Over the years, I’ve returned many times, and the city never stops surprising me. Bangkok has it all: creativity, tradition, modernity, street culture, luxury hotels, hidden temples, rooftop bars, and quiet corners that seem untouched by the pace surrounding them.

One moment you’re surrounded by towering skyscrapers and endless traffic, the next you’re wandering through a peaceful canal-side neighborhood where life feels unchanged for decades. Bangkok isn’t a city you simply visit. It’s a city you experience.

THINGS TO DO IN BANGKOK

  • Explore Bangkok’s hidden canals (Khlongs).

Leave the main roads behind and discover a different side of the city. Wooden houses, local life, temples, and narrow waterways offer a glimpse into old Bangkok.

  • Visit Talad Noi, one of Bangkok’s most photogenic neighborhoods, filled with street art, vintage workshops, Chinese shrines, and character around every corner.

  • Watch sunset from a rooftop bar. Bangkok’s skyline is best appreciated from above. As the city lights begin to glow, the scale and energy of the capital become unforgettable.

  • Explore the creative district around Charoen Krung. Art galleries, cafés, restored warehouses, and boutique hotels make this one of the city’s most interesting neighborhoods.

  • Experience Bangkok’s street food culture. Skip the hotel buffet and follow the locals. Some of the city’s best meals are served from small carts on busy sidewalks.

  • Visit Wat Arun at sunrise. Arriving early rewards you with softer light, fewer crowds, and one of Bangkok’s most beautiful views across the river.

  • Enjoy a dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya River. Set sail on the Apsara Cruise, a reimagined vintage rice barge offering a dinner cruise in Bangkok that fuses Thai mythology, culinary artistry, and riverfront grandeur.

WHEN TO VISIT
BANGKOK

The best time to visit Bangkok is between November and February, when temperatures are more comfortable and humidity is lower.

If you’re visiting in November, don’t miss Loy Krathong, one of Thailand’s most beautiful festivals. Thousands of floating lanterns and candlelit offerings transform rivers and waterways into a magical scene.

March to May can be extremely hot, while the rainy season from June to October brings frequent afternoon showers.
